How do you calculate the price per day?
We take the local price per gram of a LIVING meal and multiply it by the number of grams per day an average dog needs to thrive. Based on our 10 years of experience, the daily requirement of dogs enjoying our meals is around 15% less than the official FEDIAF guidelines you'll find in the feeding guide on our packaging. The FEDIAF guidelines were developed for high-starch kibble, whereas our meals are the opposite: low in carbs and high in fresh, quality animal ingredients.

The official FEDIAF feeding guide, describing the recommended portion size per day in grams based on your dog's weight, can be found in several places. Feeding guides are printed on the back of the packaging on our meals and in our product guides, as well as on our website. How do I know how much food per day to give my dog?
Your first bag of ESSENTIALS marks the beginning a dietary lifestyle change. You can make the change gradually over 4–7 days or all at once from day one. The main thing is to adjust the daily portion size to ensure the right amount of kibble. Overfeeding will result in softer stools. Ideally, you’ll be spending 2–3 weeks making adjustments until you find the right portion size. When the stools firm up and your dog is contented, then you've found the right amount. Begin by serving 15% less than you're used to and make your adjustments from there. You can use our feeding guides as inspiration during the adjustment period.
